Job Description
S&S Tire, a leading multi-location regional wholesale tire dealer, is recognized as one of the most prominent independent tire dealerships in the United States. Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, S&S Tire operates extensively with 15 full-service commercial locations, 14 wholesale distribution centers, and 2 Bandag retread facilities spread across 11 Southeastern states. The company employs over 650 employees and manages a fleet of more than 300 service and delivery vehicles, serving a broad variety of customers in the commercial tire industry. Celebrating over 45 years in business since its inception, S&S Tire has earned accolades from respected industry publications such as Modern Tire Dealer and Tire Business magazines, consistently being recognized as a leader in tire sales and distribution. Their commitment to excellence is embedded in their mission, vision, and core values, which emphasize integrity, customer value, longevity, employee development, and being the simplest, fastest, and most reliable tire dealer in the region.
The role of Warehouse Associate/Backup Driver at S&S Tire is a dynamic and physically demanding position that plays a crucial role in the company’s operations. This position includes manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, and handling tires that can weigh up to 150 pounds. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for receiving shipments, verifying product accuracy, and maintaining organized inventory through proper packing, counting, and staging of tire orders based on a bin locator system. Operating equipment such as order pickers and pallet jacks safely and efficiently is also a significant part of the job. The role contributes directly to inventory control processes, including cycle counts and annual physical inventories, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and company policies at all times.
In addition to warehouse responsibilities, the Backup Driver aspect of the position requires a service-oriented mindset. The driver safely operates box trucks ranging from 16 to 28 feet in length for timely delivery of tire products to customers. Providing excellent customer service, performing routine vehicle maintenance checks, and maintaining detailed driver and vehicle logs are vital components of this role. The driver also collects payments for merchandise delivered on a Cash on Delivery basis and reports potential sales leads to the Store Manager for follow-up, contributing to the company’s growth objectives. This combination of warehouse and driver duties means the candidate must be adaptable, physically capable, detail-oriented, and committed to safety, customer satisfaction, and reliability.
Compensation for this role is competitive and varies based on experience, with the likelihood of frequent overtime and quarterly bonuses. Employees of S&S Tire benefit from a comprehensive health package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, paid vacations, and holidays. S&S Tire is an equal opportunity employer that promotes a drug-free workplace culture, underscoring their commitment to employee safety and well-being. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who want to join a well-established industry leader, contribute to its continued success, and grow within a supportive and steady work environment.
