The Warehouse & Distribution Assistant role at Meals on Wheels People is an integral part of the organization's mission, focusing on the safe and timely distribution of prepared and unprepared food products, beverages, and supplies to the various dining sites. This position involves operating a 24-foot delivery truck to transport these goods from the Central Kitchen, a responsibility that is crucial for maintaining the smooth flow of operations and ensuring that the organization’s service commitments are met each day. The assistant contributes significantly to warehouse operations by receiving, inspecting, and organizing vendor deliveries, meticulously recording inventory and temperature levels, and preparing products for efficient and accurate delivery. This includes guaranteeing proper labeling and sealing of shipments and adhering to stringent food safety and sanitation standards governed by state and federal laws.

Additional responsibilities extend into assisting with food production and packaging, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and space, and ensuring security in warehouse activities. The role requires a balance of physical activity and technical skills, including using electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, and lift gates, and maintaining computerized records for inventory tracking.
