Job Description

Adventure Medics is a distinguished provider of event medical services, specializing in emergency medical response for outdoor events, wildland fire response, medical training courses, and general emergency services. This organization is renowned for its commitment to safety, professionalism, and high-quality care in diverse and often challenging environments. Operating primarily across Central Oregon, Portland, Washington, and Arizona, Adventure Medics plays a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of participants and staff at various events, including wilderness adventures and large-scale public gatherings.\n\nThe company prides itself on assembling a skilled team of medical professionals equipped with advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) capabilities, capable of delivering exceptional care in event scenarios. Adventure Medics fosters a culture of reliability, adventure, and professionalism while maintaining stringent safety standards for all its operations.\n\nThe open position is for Event Staff ALS, which includes licensed Paramedics and Registered Nurses, with consideration for other EMS certification levels based on disposition. Preference is given to candidates who can commit to two or more shifts per month during the active season, spanning from May through September. This role is tailored for experienced medical professionals with at least two years of EMS or comparable wilderness experience, such as guiding, search and rescue (SAR), or wildland fire operations. The seasonal nature of this role demands flexibility, physical fitness, and a dedication to responding swiftly and efficiently under pressure.\n\nAs part of the Event Staff team, members will be responsible for a broad range of duties, from logistical setup such as towing trailers and setting up clinic tents, to delivering emergency medical care at varying levels (ALS or BLS) depending on certification. Staff will also maintain equipment and supplies, utilize various communication devices, operate company vehicles safely, assist with station cleanliness, and ensure all patient and event documentation is accurately completed. Additionally, this role involves liaising professionally with event coordinators, volunteers, and local agencies to foster smooth, coordinated operations. Occasional maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, including bikes and rescue vehicles, are also part of the responsibilities.\n\nThis position offers the opportunity to work within a dedicated and dynamic team, gaining valuable hands-on experience in event medicine and emergency services. Employees are expected to attend orientation and pass required skills and physical fitness tests. The employment model includes two classifications: Core Team members working 20-40 hours weekly and Event Call List (ECL) staff who must average at least 12 hours or two shifts per month, offering flexibility to accommodate variable schedules. Adventure Medics ensures competitive pay ranging from $29 to $32 per hour depending on location (Bend Headquarters or Troutdale Station), travel reimbursement, training wages for orientation and drills, and a supportive work environment with a provided uniform, requiring only employees to supply EMS boots. This role is an excellent fit for dependable, adventurous, and professional individuals passionate about wilderness and event medical care who can commit to active event seasons with a strong sense of duty and teamwork.
