The role of Waitstaff/Bartenders Per Diem at the College of the Holy Cross supports the mission and values of the Dining Services department. This part-time, non-exempt position is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work opportunities on a per diem basis, offering base pay of $6.75 plus generous gratuities. Those in this position will contribute to the seamless operation of catering events across various campus and off-campus venues. Responsibilities include setting dining and buffet tables with appropriate china, flatware, glassware, and linens, serving food and beverages tableside, and preparing alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks while maintaining a clean and organized bar area. Interaction with customers is expected to be both pleasant and professional, upholding high standards of customer service representative of Holy Cross. Employees are also tasked with maintaining cleanliness and adhering to health and safety guidelines, such as temperature management, personal hygiene, and sanitation standards.
The Waitstaff/Bartenders must be versatile and flexible, able to work at different locations on campus as needed and support setup and breakdown for catering events according to the specific requirements of each venue. Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are crucial, as is the willingness to obtain TIPS certification to ensure responsible beverage service. Job Duties
- Set dining tables and buffet tables with china, flatware, glassware, and linens
- Run food from designated kitchen area to dining area on demand
- Set buffets with food presentation standing and practice in mind, ensuring safe food handling
- Serve beverages and food items tableside to the guest
- Prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages while keeping a clean bar area
- Interact with customers and staff in a pleasant and professional manner
- Assist in keeping a clean working area and ensure front-of-house areas are properly maintained
- Ensure all health code procedures are followed, including temperature management, personal hygiene, sanitation
- Work independently and efficiently to set up and break down catering events at various campus and off-campus locations
- Flexibly work at various locations on campus as directed to meet department-wide needs
