The opportunity available is for the position of Dining Room Server within the Health Center team, an integral role that involves delivering courteous and efficient table service to residents and their guests. This hourly position offers a competitive wage ranging from $12 to $15 per hour with varied schedules, including holidays and weekends, which provide flexibility for candidates. The Dining Room Server is responsible not only for serving meals but also for assisting with maintaining the dining area’s appearance and operation under the guidance of the Dining Room Manager. This role demands a genuine passion for hospitality, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work empathetically with seniors and their families. The server will engage with residents daily, ensuring their dining experience is delightful by providing friendly service, answering questions about menu items, and accommodating special requests with professionalism and respect.

In addition to meal service, Dining Room Servers contribute to the smooth functioning of the dining area by setting tables, clearing dishes promptly, assisting with dishwashing when needed, and supporting catering events. The position also includes maintaining safe and sanitary conditions in compliance with health policies, attending in-service training sessions, and upholding confidentiality standards according to HIPAA regulations. Job Requirements

  • Able to stand or walk for 100% of the workday
  • able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. independently
  • able to push and pull bus carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently
  • able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday
  • may be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals and offensive odors
  • must maintain resident confidentiality at all times

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum of three months previous experience waiting tables in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred
  • effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • ability to interpret and explain menu, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests
  • ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers
  • empathy for the elderly

Job Duties

  • Sets tables and maintains workstations in proper order
  • takes orders, provides service and requested items both graciously and courteously
  • clears dishes from tables during and after meal service
  • answers pertinent questions about menu items
  • assists with dish washing and distribution of clean dishes, if needed
  • assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests
  • advises the Restaurant Manager regarding dining room status
  • set up all catering events and clean up after all catering events
  • completes all assigned cleaning tasks
  • maintains safe and sanitary conditions in work areas
  • attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
  • performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • abides by all Carillon policies and procedures relating to HIPAA
