The role of Dining Room Server at Carillon Senior Living is an integral position within the Health Center team. This hourly role, offering competitive pay between $12 and $15 per hour, involves varied scheduling, including holidays and weekends, providing flexibility for individuals seeking to work within a dynamic and interactive healthcare setting dedicated to the senior population. The Dining Room Server is responsible for providing courteous and efficient table service in the community dining rooms. This position supports not only meal service but also plays a vital role in creating a welcoming dining experience that meets the needs and preferences of senior residents.

As a Dining Room Server, the individual is expected to assist the Dining Room Manager with the overall operation and maintenance of the dining area, including coordinating meal service procedures, setting tables, and ensuring that workstations remain orderly. The role requires effective communication skills, empathy, and the ability to respond promptly and professionally to resident inquiries about menu items and services offered. Job Requirements

  • Must maintain resident confidentiality at all times
  • Must have effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor, and peers
  • Position requires empathy for elderly
  • Ability to interpret and explain menu
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 100 percent of the workday
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs independently
  • Able to push and pull bus carts weighing up to 50 lbs independently
  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum three months previous experience waiting tables preferred
  • Will train

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum of three months experience waiting tables in hotel, restaurant, or club preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with residents, guests, families, supervisors, and peers
  • Empathy for elderly individuals
  • Ability to interpret and explain menu items

Job Duties

  • Set tables and maintain workstations in proper order
  • Take orders and provide courteous service
  • Clear dishes during and after meal service
  • Answer questions about menu items
  • Assist with dishwashing and distribution of clean dishes
  • Maintain high level of customer service for residents and guests
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of catering events
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks
  • Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in work areas
  • Attend in-service training and education sessions
  • Perform duties assigned by supervisor
  • Adhere to all Carillon policies including HIPAA
