For the position of Waitstaff at the Lakewood Estates community, the role is vital in the dining services operation. The Waitstaff ensures that residents and guests receive timely and professional meal service in a friendly and hospitable manner. Responsibilities include taking and delivering food orders accurately, bussing and resetting tables, maintaining cleanliness standards, and supporting kitchen and dining area operations. The role requires adherence to stringent food safety regulations, including certified training in CPR, First Aid, ServeSafe, and food handler permits.

This role is an essential link in the resident service experience at Sunrise Senior Living. It requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced senior living environment. The waitstaff member plays a critical role in maintaining resident satisfaction by providing attentive and personalized service, assisting with menu selections and ensuring a clean, welcoming dining area.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum of one year experience preferred in fine dining hospitality or full-service senior living
  • maintain CPR and First Aid certification
  • maintain ServeSafe certification
  • maintain local health department food handler card
  • ability to perform essential job duties satisfactorily
  • compliance with state or provincial regulations and ongoing education
  • ability to pass drug test, tuberculosis test, physical evaluation, and background check where required
  • willingness to comply with Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination mandates if applicable
  • ability to understand and perform duties related to safety and regulatory compliance
  • ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • strong communication and time management skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Cultivate a warm and hospitable environment by making personal connections with residents and guests and treating all with professionalism and respect
  • take and deliver food orders in a timely manner
  • bus and reset tables per company standards
  • clean and maintain the dining room and bistro to the highest standards per company guidelines
  • complete required side work as assigned
  • attend pre-meal meeting to gain knowledge of the meal
  • maintain knowledge of menu items and provide general descriptions
  • assist residents with menu selections and respond professionally to questions about menu items
  • use Sunrise systems per guidelines for order taking and meal delivery to ensure accuracy
  • practice safe food handling procedures at all times
  • comply with national and provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety
  • wash and sanitize dishes, silverware, glassware, utensils, and cookware
  • sweep work areas, sanitize production areas, and empty trash
  • prepare and serve light meals in a timely manner and in accordance with standardized recipes and menus
  • assist with food preparation and plating when necessary
  • participate actively as a member of a team and commit to team goals
  • demonstrate the Team Member Credo in daily interactions
  • commit to serving residents through Principles of Service
  • contribute to engagement programs
  • attend meetings as directed by supervisor
  • maintain compliance in required training
  • perform other duties as assigned
