Job Description
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is a prestigious and historic brand within Marriott International's expansive portfolio, known for its commitment to providing exceptional hospitality and creating an inclusive environment for guests and employees alike. Established in 1937, Sheraton has grown into a global community with over 400 locations worldwide, acting as "The World's Gathering Place." The brand emphasizes a meaningful guest experience crafted by a team of dedicated associates who foster a sense of belonging and connection through engaging service in vibrant and diverse communities. Employees at Sheraton benefit from a welcoming culture that values diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences, promoting equal opportunities and professional growth.
This part-time, non-management Food and Beverage role, based in Honolulu, Hawaii, offers an opportunity to become part of this global hospitality leader. The position primarily involves serving food courses and alcoholic beverages while ensuring a superior dining experience for guests. The role requires setting tables according to specific event types and service standards, providing menu information, and maintaining clear communication with kitchen staff regarding orders, wait times, and special dietary needs. The use of the MICROS system for recording transactions at the time of ordering is a must, emphasizing the importance of accurate and efficient service.
The role also includes thorough attention to cleanliness and organization of the work area throughout the shift, including tableware and surroundings. Providing guests with attentive service by regularly checking their satisfaction with food and beverages reinforces the commitment to guest delight. Closing duties such as restocking and shutting down areas ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
Furthermore, the position requires adherence to all company safety and security policies, including timely reporting of any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions, and completion of required safety training and certifications. Personal presentation and professional conduct are vital, as is maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information while safeguarding company assets.
An important aspect of the role involves engaging guests warmly according to company standards, anticipating their needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and expressing sincere appreciation at the conclusion of service. Communication skills are essential, including clear and professional interaction with guests and coworkers. Teamwork and positive working relationships contribute to the overall success and harmonious work environment.
Physical demands are a key consideration, as the job involves standing, sitting, or walking during the entire shift and handling objects ranging from light to moderate weight, sometimes requiring team assistance. Navigating various surfaces like stairs, ramps, and slippery areas, as well as performing movements such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, are necessary components of the daily operations.
The successful candidate will ideally have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of related experience in food and beverage service. While supervisory experience is not required, the individual must demonstrate an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute positively to a professional team. This position is tip eligible and offers an hourly wage of $16.00 to $17.38, along with health care benefits, retirement plans, paid time off and sick leave, life insurance, disability coverage, and additional life and wellness benefits subject to eligibility requirements.
Joining Sheraton Hotels & Resorts means becoming part of a hospitality legacy that values inclusion, growth, and the delivery of memorable guest experiences. If you are a team-oriented professional excited to contribute and grow within the vibrant food and beverage industry, this opportunity in Honolulu offers an enriching platform to develop your skills and career within a supportive and globally recognized brand.
