This specific role is for a Waiter/Waitress position based at BGSU's address, 1446 Ridge Street Back Dock Entrance. Hiring is immediate for both full-time and part-time roles, with schedules that vary depending on catering events and will be discussed in detail during interviews. No previous experience is necessary, making this position ideal for individuals looking to enter the hospitality or food service industry. The primary responsibility is to provide excellent food and beverage service to guests, maintaining high standards of customer care, sanitation, and safety. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- customer service experience is a plus but not required
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
- take food and beverages orders efficiently following established steps of service
- deliver food promptly and professionally maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- follow up periodically to assist with additional guest needs or requests
- demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients and advise guests on food and drink combinations
- accommodate reasonable requests and note guest preferences
- communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are correct and special requests are met
- exhibit exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others
- collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
- promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
- maintain sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
- promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information to supervisor
- ensure dining room is properly set up prior to and after service period
- operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
- work with other department staff during special events and functions
- perform other duties as assigned
