Located at Dominican Convent on Route 340 in Sparkill, NY, Unidine is seeking a part-time Waiter/Waitress to join their dynamic culinary team.

This part-time position offers scheduled shifts on weekends, with working hours from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm on Saturdays and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sundays, providing an excellent opportunity for those seeking weekend employment. As a Waiter or Waitress, you will be essential in creating memorable dining experiences by efficiently taking food and beverage orders, delivering meals, and ensuring guest satisfaction. The role demands prior serving experience, emphasizing professional service, strong communication skills, and a warm, welcoming attitude.

The Waiter/Waitress will be required to greet guests promptly, take orders accurately, and follow up to meet all guest needs. You will be expected to understand the menu thoroughly, including ingredients and potential allergens, and offer recommendations that enhance the dining experience. The role also includes maintaining high sanitation standards, handling cash properly, and ensuring the dining area is clean and well-organized before, during, and after service.

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
  • deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • follow up periodically to assist with any additional guest needs or requests
  • demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients and advise guests on food and drink combinations
  • communicate orders and special requests directly with back-of-the-house staff
  • exhibit exceptional communication skills and maintain a positive attitude with guests and staff
  • collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • maintain a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
  • address complaints or issues promptly and escalate to a supervisor as necessary
  • ensure the dining room is properly set up prior to and after service periods
  • operate various equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, beverage machines, and coffee makers
  • collaborate with staff from other departments during special events and functions
  • perform other duties as assigned
