As a waiter/waitress at Public, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the restaurant's reputation for exceptional service while contributing to the overall guest experience. The position demands highly developed hard skills in food and beverage service combined with engaging interpersonal abilities. The ideal candidate will be capable of multitasking efficiently, managing simultaneous orders and deliveries with precision and care. Your responsibilities will encompass greeting and seating guests, guiding them through menu options, and offering thoughtful recommendations to enhance their dining experience. Accurate order taking is fundamental, whether via software, order slips, or memorization, followed by seamless communication with kitchen staff to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of food and beverages. You will be responsible for handling cash and credit transactions responsibly and professionally. Additionally, maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of tables and tableware will be part of your daily tasks. Exceptional customer service is essential, as is the ability to handle challenges gracefully and work effectively as part of a team. Your role is pivotal in creating a pleasurable and memorable dining experience for all patrons at Public.

Job Duties

  • Greeting, seating, and escorting guests
  • Providing menu recommendations and additional information
  • Upselling additional products when appropriate
  • Checking IDs to prevent minors from ordering alcoholic beverages
  • Taking orders using software, order slips, or by memorization
  • Communicating order details to the kitchen staff
  • Delivering food and beverages in a timely fashion
  • Delivering checks and collecting bill payments
  • Cleaning and maintaining the appearance of tables and tableware
  • Providing exceptional customer experience
