Job Description

Compass Group, a global leader in the foodservice industry, is currently hiring for full-time and part-time Waiter/Waitress positions at Turkish Air, located in Terminal B at 1 Saarinen Circle, Sterling, VA. The Waiter/Waitress role at Compass Group involves providing outstanding food and beverage service to guests in the dining area, particularly within the challenging and dynamic environment of an airport setting. The position requires associates to warmly and promptly greet customers, take accurate food and beverage orders, and deliver these orders efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of sanitation and food safety. This position demands excellent customer service skills, the ability to effectively communicate with both guests and kitchen staff, and an understanding of menu items, including ingredients and potential allergens. Job Requirements

  • Previous airport and food and beverage knowledge preferred
  • Ability to work full-time or part-time schedules with flexible availability

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food and beverage service or hospitality industry preferred
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days and varied hours
  • Customer service oriented with a friendly and approachable demeanor

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • Take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
  • Deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling standards
  • Follow up periodically to assist with additional guest needs or requests
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of menu items and ingredients
  • Advise guests on food and drink combinations and accommodate reasonable requests
  • Communicate with back-of-the-house staff to ensure accurate orders and special requests
  • Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • Promote a clean, safe, and neat dining environment
  • Address complaints promptly and relay to supervisor
  • Set up and clean the dining room before and after service
  • Operate dining equipment such as fire extinguishers, coffee machines, and soda machines
  • Work with other departments during special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned
