Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in a serving or customer service role preferred
- ability to work part-time flexible schedules including weekdays, some nights, and holidays
- legal authorization to work in the United States
- ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff
- physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- commitment to uphold food safety and sanitation standards
- willingness to work in a museum dining environment
Job Qualifications
- previous serving, bartending, or customer service experience preferred
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work flexible hours including weekdays, nights, and holidays
- ability to maintain confidentiality regarding guest information
- ability to operate beverage and kitchen equipment
Job Duties
- promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
- take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
- deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
- advise guests on menu items, ingredients, and appropriate combinations of food and drinks
- accommodate guest requests and demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens
- communicate with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are accurate and special requests accommodated
- collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
- maintain a clean, safe, and neat dining environment
- address guest complaints and relay information to supervisors
- set up and clean the dining area before and after service
- operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea machines, soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
- collaborate with other departments during special events
- perform other assigned duties
