The Waiter/Bartender role at NYU Langone Health offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the dynamic Allied Health and Food and Nutrition Services teams. This full-time, regular position involves providing exemplary catering services in a fast-paced medical center setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up service areas for various catered functions, executing bar and waiter services in accordance to specific contract requirements, and maintaining cleanliness and stock levels throughout events. The role demands the ability to serve guests courteously but efficiently, handle bar inventories, and ensure adherence to safety and sanitation standards. With a variable shift schedule, this role requires flexibility and dedication to uphold the high service standards expected by NYU Langone Health's prestigious clientele. Job Requirements

Prior catering or restaurant service experience
Ability to read, write and communicate in English
Ability to understand and carryout simple oral and written instructions
Minimum of two years experience in a catering or restaurant service environment preferred
Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization
Ability to work variable shifts
Must comply with sanitation and safety standards
Ability to perform physical tasks related to catering service
Willingness to attend training and education sessions as required.

Job Duties

Provides service during catered function
Services guests in the style required by the contract such as sit down dinner, buffet, reception with bar, and hor d'oeuvres served butler style
Provides bar service including open bar, butler service of champagne, and sit down dinner with wine
Maintains constant flow of service by stocking bar with ice and supplies, and clearing away dirty items
Assists in other areas of party service as requested
Notifies manager of problems, spills, or shortages
Ensures host/hostess signs contract for function
Cleans bar and room post-event, removes used equipment quietly, and returns room to original set up
Manages liquor and soda inventory and records usage
Follows sanitation and safety standards
Maintains equipment in safe and sanitary condition
Performs related tasks such as picking up supplies and delivering items within the medical center
Maintains soda and linen rooms, locker room, and offices clean
Sets up and prepares items for catered functions based on contracts
Checks place settings, silverware, glassware, and condiments
Prepares bar items, including slicing garnishes and assembling supplies
Sets up bar area with all necessary beverages, condiments, and service ware.
