The role of Waiter Bartender at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital is a part-time position with variable shifts, including weekends, ideally suited for individuals passionate about food service within a healthcare setting. This role is critical to supporting patient services, cafeteria operations, and catering functions by preparing food of moderate complexity according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality food preparation that meets the hospital’s stringent dietary and sanitary standards, contributing significantly to patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
A key aspect of the role is maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety protocols, including HACCP guidelines, proper use of sanitizers, and equipment handling. The Waiter Bartender will work with a range of kitchen tools and equipment, such as griddles, ovens, steam kettles, mixers, and slicers, to prepare food that complies with patient dietary needs and hospital policies. This role requires attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely.
Candidates with prior catering or restaurant experience will find their skills highly relevant in this position. While a culinary degree is preferred, it is not mandatory, but the ability to effectively communicate within diverse teams is essential. NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital offers more than just a workplace; it provides an environment where employees can grow their careers and make a tangible impact on patients' lives. The hospital supports its workforce with an extensive benefits and wellness program covering physical, mental, nutritional, social, financial, and preventive care needs.
