The role of Wait Staff Tipped at Sodexo is a part-time position based at Lynn University, with a pay range of $15.00 to $16.00 per hour. The work schedule includes mornings and afternoon or evening shifts on varying days, including some weekends and holidays, with specific details to be discussed during the interview process. As a Wait Staff member, you will be responsible for delivering attentive and efficient service by greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, and taking accurate food and beverage orders while ensuring that all customer needs are met promptly and professionally.

In this position, you will serve a diverse menu of freshly made entrées, appetizers, desserts, and beverages. Your role involves being knowledgeable about menu items, including allergens and preparation methods, to provide accurate recommendations and answer customer inquiries effectively. Attention to detail is vital as you will check the quality and presentation of all items before serving and handle guest concerns diplomatically. This job requires physical stamina due to significant walking, standing for long periods, and the ability to lift and carry moderate weights regularly. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to create a welcoming atmosphere that exceeds customer expectations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year related experience
  • if applicable, minimum legal age to serve alcohol
  • valid TIPS or TEAM certification if applicable
  • compliance with all state-specific alcohol service training requirements

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests
  • present menus and introduce specials or menu changes
  • provide knowledgeable recommendations on meals, beverages, and wine
  • answer questions about menu items, allergens, and preparation
  • accurately take and relay orders to the kitchen
  • confirm orders with guests
  • check all items for quality and presentation
  • monitor guest needs and respond to requests
  • address concerns or complaints professionally
  • attend work punctually and regularly
  • perform mobility-related tasks such as walking and standing for extended periods
  • lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • use hands for handling and reaching
  • taste and smell food and beverages as required
  • perform repetitive motions
  • perform other duties as assigned based on business necessities and client requirements
