The Wait Staff Tipped position at Sodexo Live, based at the Raleigh Convention Center, offers a full-time employment opportunity with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $19.00. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy delivering outstanding customer service. The Wait Staff Tipped is responsible for providing attentive, efficient, and professional service to guests, ensuring their dining experience exceeds expectations. This includes greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, explaining specials, and making knowledgeable recommendations on menu items and beverages. The role also involves taking and accurately relaying orders to the kitchen, ensuring that food is served attractively and to the highest quality standards.

Working as Wait Staff requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, lift or move weights up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions. Candidates must be attentive to guests’ needs and able to address any concerns gracefully and professionally. Policies related to alcohol service, such as training with TIPS or equivalent certifications, and adherence to state-specific regulations, are also required. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year of related experience
  • valid age for alcohol service as per local regulations
  • compliance with state-specific alcohol training requirements
  • ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally move 50 pounds
  • capacity for repetitive motions
  • reliable attendance and punctuality
  • ability to greet and interact professionally with guests

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year related experience
  • knowledge of food and beverage service
  • certification in TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service program is preferred
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to connect with diverse guests and coworkers

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests, present menus, and introduce specials or menu changes
  • provide knowledgeable recommendations on meals, beverages, and wine, and answer questions about menu items, allergens, and preparation
  • accurately take and relay orders to the kitchen, confirm orders with guests, and process them in the correct sequence
  • check all items for quality and completeness, ensuring that presentations are attractive, appetizing, and consistent
  • monitor guest needs, respond to requests, and address concerns or complaints with professionalism
  • perform significant walking or other means of mobility
  • stand or walk for extended periods, sometimes exceeding 8 hours
