The position of Wait Staff at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience of the residents. Responsible for assisting with meal services, this role requires an individual who loves working with senior citizens and is capable of working both independently and cooperatively as part of a team. The job is part time, offering 15 to 20 hours per week during evening shifts from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm on weekdays and weekends. Flexibility to work weekends is essential. With a starting wage of $15.00 per hour, the position offers opportunities to participate in Fairhaven's benefits for part-time employees, including a 403(b) Retirement Plan available to those working 20 hours or more weekly and meeting age requirements, as well as paid time off.

The Wait Staff is tasked with various duties that contribute to the smooth operation of the dining service within the retirement center. These include serving meals in accordance with residents’ dietary needs and preferences, setting up and clearing dining tables, preparing employee and room trays, washing dishes, and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas. The role not only emphasizes operational duties but also encourages the fostering of a respectful, dignified, and warm atmosphere that supports resident privacy and well-being. Employees must comply with all HIPAA regulations, uphold infection control procedures, and act as ambassadors of customer service and public relations. The ideal candidate demonstrates dependability, punctuality, and a genuine warmth when engaging with residents, supporting the mission of Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center to provide a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.

Job Requirements

  • physical condition allowing for normal kitchen duties including but not limited to
  • lifting up to 30 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity, ability to read and understand directions
  • ability to communicate in English

  • adherence to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policy documents

Job Duties

  • understands the various therapeutic diets and applies this knowledge when serving
  • serves food to residents following their diets, food preferences and dislikes
  • sets up employee trays
  • sets up, delivers and picks up residents’ room trays
  • sets dining room tables for meals
  • vacuums dining room floor after each meal
  • washes dishes and cleans equipment and areas after each use
