Job Description
White Sands, a HumanGood life plan community located in the picturesque coastal city of La Jolla, California, stands as a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Operated by HumanGood, the largest nonprofit owner and operator of senior living communities in California and one of the largest nationwide, White Sands is committed to enriching the lives of older adults by offering comprehensive, high-quality residential and healthcare services. The mission of HumanGood is to create vibrant communities where seniors can flourish, embracing their independence and individuality in a supportive environment that fosters well-being, connection, and personal growth. This community is more than just a place to work; it is a place to make a real difference in the lives of residents as they define what it means to live well in their golden years.
White Sands is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our Dining Services Department. This part-time role offers shifts on Friday evenings, weekends, and Monday evenings, with a competitive hourly wage between $21.00 and $22.00. The position involves direct interaction with residents and guests in a beautiful dining room setting where quality service and a warm atmosphere are paramount. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall dining experience, supporting the community's mission of fostering engagement and well-being.
Working within the Dining Services team means being a vital part of daily resident life, helping to ensure that meals are served with care and attention to detail. Employees will greet residents and guests upon arrival, take and input orders efficiently into the POS system, and assist with various dining room duties such as bussing, running, plating meals, and catering support. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitization standards is crucial, ensuring that tables and dining areas are disinfected and welcoming. The role requires effective communication skills to interact with residents, including those with special dietary needs or specific preferences, while adhering strictly to HIPAA privacy rules and company policies. Reporting any maintenance or safety concerns promptly is also an important aspect of the job.
Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, working at White Sands aligns employees with HumanGood’s core values of passion, inclusion, courage, innovation, and impact. We believe that each team member plays an essential role in creating an environment where seniors can thrive. Joining this team means being part of a purpose-driven organization committed to reimagining senior living and fostering meaningful connections within the community.
HumanGood offers more than just a job; it provides a comprehensive total rewards package designed to support employees’ health, financial stability, and well-being. Benefits include health, dental, and vision plans effective from the first of the month following the start date, generous paid time off with increasing days based on years of service, seven company holidays, and a 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% employer match and immediate vesting. Additionally, employees can benefit from health savings account options with employer contributions, tuition reimbursement, continuing education opportunities, a cell phone stipend, and an employee assistance program. These benefits enhance your ability to build a confident and secure life for you and your family while growing personally and professionally in a supportive and engaging workplace.
If you have experience in food service, particularly in fast food or restaurant environments, or with senior populations, you are encouraged to apply. While Food Handler’s or ServSafe certification is preferred, effective communication skills and availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays are essential for success in this role. Candidates must also demonstrate behaviors that support the mission and values of HumanGood and successfully complete pre-employment checks including a physical, physical abilities test, and criminal background clearance.
Join White Sands Dining Services and play an integral role in making a meaningful impact in the lives of our residents every day, helping them realize their full human potential in a caring and vibrant community.
