Amyx is currently seeking a Vulnerability Assessment Analyst-Intermediate to join its Cybersecurity Division to support an Intel client in the St. Louis, MO area. This role is integral to the company’s mission of defending critical infrastructures and sensitive information systems against evolving cyber threats. The position focuses on evaluating the organization’s cyber defense posture by analyzing security policies, conducting penetration testing, and assessing vulnerability risks across various technology environments. The Vulnerability Assessment Analyst will use advanced tools and techniques to identify potential weaknesses within enterprise networks and recommend effective mitigation strategies.

This opportunity is suited for candidates holding a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, IT, or related engineering fields, with a strong background in penetration testing certifications such as GPEN, GWAT, or CEH. The analyst will be expected to maintain knowledge of regulatory compliance and cyber defense auditing standards while actively contributing to audit missions using specialized cyber defense toolkits. Responsibilities also include preparing detailed audit reports, performing technical surveillance reviews, and applying cybersecurity principles relevant to confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.

The position demands technical expertise in vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, network analysis, and social engineering techniques. Familiarity with tools like Nessus, Snort, Wireshark, tcpdump, and Microsoft Office Suites is essential. Employees will engage in both technical and nontechnical risk assessments, evaluating systems, networks, and operational procedures to identify deviations from security policies and recommend cost-effective controls.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Security clearance TS/SCI subject to CI poly
  • IAT Level 2 and two penetration testing certifications
  • Experience conducting vulnerability scans and assessing security systems
  • Knowledge of intrusion detection technologies
  • Proficiency with penetration testing and social engineering techniques
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools and log review
  • Ability to perform application vulnerability and risk assessments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift moderate weight
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Cyber Security, IT, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or Engineering
  • Security clearance of TS/SCI, subject to CI poly upon request
  • IAT Level 2 Certification
  • Two penetration testing certifications (GPEN, GWAT, GCIH, CEH, GPYC, LPT, CPT)
  • Skill in conducting vulnerability scans and recognizing security vulnerabilities
  • Skill in assessing robustness of security systems and designs
  • Skill in detecting intrusions using intrusion detection technologies such as Snort
  • Skill in using penetration testing tools and mimicking threat behaviors
  • Proficiency in social engineering techniques such as phishing, baiting, tailgating
  • Experience with network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities including fuzzing and nmap
  • Ability to review logs to identify intrusion evidence
  • Skill in conducting application vulnerability assessments and impact/risk assessments
  • Ability to apply cybersecurity and privacy principles relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation

Job Duties

  • Analyze organization's cyber defense policies and configurations to evaluate compliance with regulations and internal directives
  • Conduct and support authorized penetration testing on enterprise network assets
  • Maintain deployable cyber defense audit toolkit including specialized software and hardware
  • Prepare audit reports identifying technical and procedural findings with recommended remediation strategies
  • Conduct technical surveillance and countermeasure reviews as required
  • Perform technical and nontechnical risk and vulnerability assessments across technology areas
  • Make recommendations on cost-effective security controls to mitigate risks
  • Assess systems and networks for deviations from acceptable configurations and effectiveness of defense-in-depth architecture
