The Volunteer Services Coordinator position is a part-time role that supports the Volunteer Services department by ensuring a well-organized and meaningful volunteer experience across the organization. This key role is responsible for coordinating volunteer onboarding, managing scheduling systems, maintaining accurate records, and providing responsive support to both volunteers and staff. At a pay rate of $25.00 per hour, this position offers an opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to enhancing community programs that improve the lives of older adults. The role involves significant interaction with volunteers and program staff to foster a welcoming atmosphere and ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into various program activities. Additionally, the position includes data management, administrative coordination, communication, and volunteer recognition efforts to support the mission-driven work of CJE SeniorLife. This role is part of the BU Professional Optional bargaining unit with the choice to become a dues-paying member of Service Employees International Union Local 73. Individuals who take on this role will contribute directly to the well-being and engagement of older adults, helping to sustain impactful programs within a supportive nonprofit environment. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit programs, volunteer coordination, or administrative program support
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using administrative databases or management systems for scheduling and recordkeeping
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current volunteers
- Respond to volunteer inquiries and guide applicants through the onboarding process
- Coordinate volunteer onboarding activities including background checks, compliance documentation, and orientation communications
- Foster a welcoming and mission-aligned volunteer experience
- Coordinate volunteer schedules across programs and service sites
- Prepare and distribute volunteer schedules to staff and volunteer teams
- Partner with program staff to ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into program activities
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, including hours, activities, and participation
- Manage data entry and recordkeeping in volunteer management systems
- Support reporting and program evaluation by maintaining accurate data and documentation
- Manage volunteer postings and communications across online platforms
- Support volunteer appreciation and recognition activities
- Collaborate with internal teams to support volunteer events and engagement initiatives
