Job Requirements
- Two-year degree in business and management studies, human resource management, social work, youth and community work, or related field
- One year of related experience preferred
- Knowledge of volunteer management principles and evaluation techniques
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours for special events and programs
- Commitment to serving as a goodwill ambassador for the zoo
Job Qualifications
- Two-year degree in business and management studies, human resource management, social work, youth and community work, or related field
- One year of related experience in volunteer program preferred
- Knowledge of volunteer management principles and evaluation techniques
- Knowledge of membership programs and key performance indicators
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
Job Duties
- Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating volunteers for zoo events and daily operations
- Manage online volunteer sign-up sheets and update training materials
- Maintain volunteer department policies, procedures, and records to comply with AZA accreditation standards
- Perform background checks, conduct interviews, and process volunteer recruitment paperwork
- Assist with recruitment and coordination of internship programs
- Conduct volunteer orientations and trainings
- Maintain up-to-date volunteer database and records
- Serve as liaison between volunteers and zoo staff
- Maintain communication with volunteers through social media, telephone, email, and face-to-face
- Represent the zoo at off-site volunteer recruitment and engagement opportunities
- Coordinate volunteer meetings and corporate group projects
- Edit and publish volunteer reports and prepare marketing materials
- Develop and execute annual membership plans focused on retention and growth
- Process membership purchases and renewals
- Maintain membership database and records
- Collaborate with marketing and education departments on branding and messaging
- Assist schools and group visits with check-in, deposits, and payments
- Provide customer service to guests, members, and volunteers
