Serving more than 29,000 people annually, the organization plays a pivotal role in breaking down barriers and creating inclusive opportunities for one in four Americans living with disabilities. Easterseals Southern California is currently seeking a highly motivated Vocational Specialist 1 to join its team in Orange County. This full-time, hybrid position is based out of Irvine but involves travel within the Orange County area. The role offers a starting pay rate of $25 per hour with a Monday through Friday schedule, 37.5 hours per week, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. This position uniquely combines hands-on work with job seekers and business engagement, requiring the candidate to possess reliable transportation, insurance, and a clean DMV record. Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.
As a Vocational Specialist, you will serve as the critical link connecting employers with job seekers, enabling meaningful employment that goes beyond simply holding a job. Your work will revolve around guiding individuals through a thorough discovery process to identify their strengths, abilities, and ideal work environments. You'll be tasked with developing customized job search strategies featuring detailed timelines and supporting job seekers throughout the interview and onboarding process to ensure success.
This role calls for a professional who can identify and cultivate community employment opportunities and maintain meaningful business relationships. It requires an entrepreneurial spirit combined with excellent communication and negotiation skills to advocate effectively for individuals and innovative employment practices. The position demands adaptability, the ability to read subtle conversational cues, and a passion for connecting deeply with both employers and clients.
Candidates with backgrounds in real estate, marketing, non-profit, case management, education, or customer service are encouraged to apply. Easterseals Southern California offers a supportive work culture and a great work-life balance. Additional benefits include ACRE certification through on-the-job training, a robust medical, dental, and vision insurance package, a 401k program, tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year, student loan counseling, 15 days of paid time off, and 11 paid holidays. This role is an excellent opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact while advancing a rewarding career with a respected organization.
