The role of a Teaching Fellow at CTFF is essential to delivering personalized academic support in expanded learning environments. Teaching Fellows work directly with students to tutor, guide, and mentor them in a safe, structured, and encouraging setting. As a Teaching Fellow, you will monitor student learning activities daily, prepare lesson objectives and plans aligning with education standards, and support academic progress through individual and group tutoring. You will also be responsible for maintaining order and enforcing behavioral expectations to ensure the optimal learning atmosphere.

The position requires adherence to structured program schedules, shadowing experienced educators for training, and assisting with student check-in and homework tutoring. You will lead enrichment activities and help students develop social-emotional skills through conversation, games, and group interactions. Maintaining open communication with staff and administrators, ensuring student safety, and reporting any incidents or suspicious activities are critical components of the role. Teaching Fellows also provide toileting support as needed while promoting student independence and dignity.

CTFF offers several key benefits to Teaching Fellows including weekends off with the exception of one Saturday per month dedicated to paid professional development academies, personal and professional development opportunities, and scholarship options for those pursuing careers in education. Teaching Fellows enjoy sick pay, transferability across the six counties served, and the chance to build a meaningful career supporting youth growth. The hourly compensation ranges from $18.00 to $20.50 depending on the position and district, and the expected weekly hours are between 20 and 25. This is an in-person role located primarily in Visalia, with opportunities available in the Visalia Unified School District and other nearby districts.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, be authorized to work in the United States, and meet No Child Left Behind requirements either by completing 48 college units or passing an approved exam. Proficiency in English, familiarity with educational standards, and willingness to undergo background checks and tuberculosis screening are mandatory. Additional qualifications that enhance candidacy include completion of Early Childhood Education units, strong organizational skills, high ethical standards, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for motivating youth to pursue educational goals.
