Job Description
Universal Orlando Resort is a world-renowned entertainment and hospitality destination located in Orlando, Florida. Known for its immersive theme parks, exciting attractions, and exceptional guest experiences, Universal Orlando also boasts a prestigious portfolio of on-site hotels operated in partnership with Loews Hotels & Co. The resort is dedicated to delivering unparalleled experiences to its guests, combining creativity, innovation, and excellent service across all its offerings. As a cornerstone of the hospitality industry within the resort, the hotel portfolio plays a vital role in providing seamless accommodations that complement the broader Universal Destinations & Experiences brand. Universal Orlando Resort is committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and continuous growth among its employees.
The role of Vice President (VP) of Hotel Commercial Strategy at Universal Orlando is a senior leadership position responsible for guiding the commercial vision and strategy for the entire on-site hotel portfolio. This esteemed role focuses on driving demand, optimizing revenue, and executing integrated go-to-market (GTM) plans that align with the larger Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) brand and commercial strategies. The VP will collaborate closely with Loews Hotels & Co., acting as the primary commercial liaison to ensure that operational execution aligns perfectly with strategic priorities. Situated at the intersection of hotel management and corporate leadership, this role demands a strategic thinker who can translate complex brand and audience insights into actionable hotel-specific plans that maximize profitability and enhance the guest journey.
Key responsibilities include defining comprehensive commercial strategies for transient and group segments within the hotels, developing annual GTM plans with detailed demand forecasts and revenue projections, and partnering with multiple internal stakeholders including destination GTM leadership, marketing activation teams, and technology groups to ensure a cohesive guest experience. The VP will maintain direct ownership over revenue management practices—such as pricing, inventory control, and yield management—to continually drive optimal revenue performance. Integration of the hotels into the broader guest journey—from booking through the stay and return visits—is a critical focus, with an emphasis on seamless, omnichannel communication and merchandising.
Additionally, this leadership role requires stewarding the collaborative joint venture partnership with Loews Hotels & Co., including high-level executive engagement and strategic co-development, while respecting the governance structures of the partnership. The VP will also spearhead growth initiatives that create new demand streams, product offerings, and event integrations, working with new ventures and product strategy teams for scalability and sustainability.
Data-driven decision-making is a core component of the position, leveraging analytics and market insights to stay ahead of industry trends and customer preferences. The VP will lead a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement to support Universal Orlando's commitment to excellence. This role demands a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in hotel commercial strategy, sales, marketing, or revenue management, with demonstrated success in managing multi-property portfolios and delivering revenue growth through integrated strategies. The position offers a competitive compensation package reflecting the seniority and impact of the role.
Universal Orlando Resort is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. The VP of Hotel Commercial Strategy position is a unique opportunity to influence and shape the future of hospitality within one of the world’s most visited entertainment complexes, contributing to unforgettable guest experiences and the sustained commercial success of the Universal Orlando hotel portfolio.
