Veterinary Technician - ICU

The current opportunity is for a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join the hospital's growing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The role offers a competitive hourly salary ranging from $22 to $27, dependent on experience, and includes differential pay for swing, overnight, and weekend shifts. The schedule consists of working 4-5 days per week, providing employees with a structured yet balanced work-life routine.

As an LVT in the ICU team, the successful candidate will be entrusted with a variety of critical responsibilities essential for specialized veterinary medical care. This position is suited for candidates with at least three years of veterinary medicine experience, with ICU or specialty experience preferred. The Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians by performing advanced technical procedures such as anesthesia monitoring and recovery, patient intubation, venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and maintenance of central lines. They will also manage feeding tubes, chest tubes, and urinary catheters, as well as monitor ECGs, surgical sites, and wounds. Their duties extend to following strict chemotherapy and infectious disease protocols, providing physical therapy for post-operative patients, administering supplemental oxygen to critical patients, and participating in CPR when necessary.

This role requires strong clinical skills alongside compassion and dedication to patient care. The technician will calculate and prepare drug doses, administer injections via SQ, IV, and IM routes, obtain and submit laboratory samples, work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, maintain accurate medical records, and assist clinicians during examinations and medical procedures. Effective client communication and education are also integral to the role, ensuring pet owners understand their animals' care and treatment plans.
