This role is for a Veterinary Technician eager to work in an intense, stimulating environment where emergency cases and critical care are part of daily operations. Veterinary Technicians at BluePearl play a vital role in supporting veterinarians by providing outstanding clinical care while addressing the needs of critically ill or injured animals. The position offers two different schedule options: part-time or full-time on weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, morning to midday), or a Friday through Monday afternoon to midnight shift (2 pm - 12 am). Both schedules require technicians who are quick-thinking, compassionate, and detail-oriented, capable of handling high-stress situations and multitasking effectively.
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician at BluePearl Pet Hospital, you will be entrusted with responsibilities such as monitoring anesthesia and recovery, performing triage and vital sign assessments, conducting digital radiography, and interpreting diagnostic data with confidence. You will be skilled at venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, medication administration including constant rate infusions, and emergency interventions such as CPR. Technicians are also expected to exhibit patience and empathy in client interactions, fostering trust and clear communication during emotionally charged moments.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed veterinary technician training program
- Current veterinary technician certification or license preferred
- Experience or strong interest in emergency and critical care medicine
- Ability to handle fast-paced and high-pressure situations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
- Willingness to work assigned shift schedules including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited veterinary technician program
- Veterinary Technician certification or license preferred
- Experience in emergency and critical care veterinary settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring equipment
- Proficiency in digital radiography techniques
- Ability to calculate medical dosages accurately
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for mentoring peers and working collaboratively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarian to changes and issues
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
- Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
- Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
- Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers
- Have patience and empathy to address client concerns
