BluePearl Pet Hospital is currently seeking an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician to join their dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment utilizing both technical skills and compassionate care to assist in the administration and monitoring of anesthesia for various veterinary procedures. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about veterinary medicine and eager to grow their expertise in anesthesia and critical care. This full-time employment offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $23.20 to $43.70, depending on licensing, experience, and competency assessments, alongside a substantial sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 for qualified candidates.
The Anesthesia Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in patient care by assisting in formulating anesthetic plans, monitoring vital signs, troubleshooting complications, and managing fluid therapies. This position demands a keen understanding of veterinary anesthetic protocols, the ability to operate and maintain anesthesia equipment, and proficiency in various technical procedures such as intravenous catheter placement and endotracheal intubation. Moreover, the technician will be responsible for critical case management, administration of advanced anesthetic techniques, and maintaining detailed medical records throughout the patient’s surgical journey. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary Technician certification or equivalent
- Prior experience in veterinary anesthesia
- Ability to perform technical procedures such as catheter placement and intubation
- Strong observational skills to monitor patient vitals
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Commitment to continuous learning and skill development
Job Qualifications
- Veterinary Technician certification or equivalent
- Experience in anesthesia and analgesia in a veterinary setting
- Ability to perform intravenous catheter placement and endotracheal intubation
- Knowledge of anesthetic equipment and maintenance
- Competency in performing physical exams and monitoring vital signs
- Familiarity with intravenous fluid setup and continuous rate infusions
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with medical math and record keeping
- Ability to manage patient care throughout entire procedure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs
- Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions
- Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance
- Perform physical exam and accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort
- Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal
- Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s
- Continuously expand knowledge including advanced anesthetic skills like epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management
- Operate and troubleshoot all brands of intravenous fluid pumps
- Apply medical math skills accurately
- Manage patient care throughout procedures including pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery
- Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, and patient discharges
- Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically
- Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload
