Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous receptionist or customer service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized under pressure
  • Flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role preferred
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
  • Experience with veterinary software systems preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion in client and pet interactions

Job Duties

  • Receive and place calls to clients for scheduling purposes
  • Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm and organized manner
  • Maintain accurate and proper documentation including client and pet records, referrals, and medical history
  • Assist clients by providing instructions, information, invoices, dispense prescription items per veterinarian's directions, and schedule future appointments
  • Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates
  • Manage hospital financial transactions including accurate balance maintenance, cash and credit card procedures, and proper opening and closing protocols
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally
  • Advocate for pet health through client education on preventative care, treatments, and hospital services
  • Maintain a positive attitude in interactions with clients, pets, and team members
  • Show empathy toward clients and compassion and respect for pets
  • Operate standard business office equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
  • Be flexible with schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
  • Work independently and accept direction on tasks assigned
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Apply critical thinking to problem-solving
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills and good judgment under stress
