Job Description
PetVet Care Centers' Stine Veterinary Hospital, located in Bakersfield, CA, is a distinguished veterinary practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and their owners. As a respected community hospital, Stine Veterinary Hospital prides itself on fostering strong, supportive relationships with clients and maintaining a culture that supports both animals and the team members who care for them. PetVet Care Centers, the parent organization, is a large network with more than 420 locally led hospitals and a workforce exceeding 11,000 team members nationwide. This expansive network offers the unique advantage of combining local autonomy with the strength and resources of a national organization. The company’s mission centers on improving the lives of animals and people by delivering exceptional, compassionate care at every stage — truly valuing every moment that pets and their owners share.
Joining the team at Stine Veterinary Hospital means becoming part of a dedicated workforce that embraces the "Ultimate Care Experience" — ensuring every pet, every client, every time, receives unparalleled attention and service. This commitment is supported by a Culture of Care that prioritizes the wellbeing and development of team members alongside the pets and clients they serve. PetVet offers career mobility and growth opportunities within a collaborative and inclusive workplace environment where respect and personal wellbeing are foundational.
The role available at this hospital is a full-time Veterinary Receptionist (Care Coordinator) position, primarily operating during day shifts, with possible hours ranging from 8 AM to 6 PM. The position offers a competitive pay range of $17.33 to $21.18 USD per hour. The Veterinary Receptionist acts as a pivotal member of the hospital team by performing a blend of administrative and customer service duties integral to hospital operations. This position is well-suited for individuals who thrive in dynamic, often high-stress veterinary environments and are passionate about providing excellent client and patient care.
As a Care Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, providing exceptional customer service both in person and over the phone. The role supports hospital efficiency by managing the flow of the lobby, calming distressed pet owners, and scheduling appointments with care and professionalism. Beyond administrative tasks, the Care Coordinator is trained to handle basic medical emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of pets and their owners. Responsibilities also extend to assisting with medication pickups, answering inquiries about hospital services and products, and managing data entry using practice management software, including billing and accounts.
Other tasks include assisting with retail sales, weighing pets, processing faxes, maintaining accurate records, and handling financial transactions such as reconciling the cash drawer and performing end-of-day duties. The position requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to every interaction.
PetVet Care Centers supports its team members with a comprehensive benefits package designed to promote both personal and professional well-being. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parental leave, a 401(k) plan with discretionary contributions, employee discounts on pet products, emotional wellbeing support through access to the Calm app and 24/7 Employee Assistance Program (EAP), continuing education stipends, career development resources, and access to the Grant Circle relief fund in times of personal hardship. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to build a meaningful career in a supportive environment dedicated to the health and happiness of animals and their owners. PetVet Care Centers is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in all employment practices.
