The Veterinary Receptionist (Care Coordinator) role is a key position within the Animal Clinic of Benicia, focused on providing outstanding customer service and administrative support to ensure smooth hospital operations. The Care Coordinator acts as the friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for clients, managing phone and in-person interactions with compassion and professionalism. Responsibilities include managing lobby flow, scheduling appointments, addressing client concerns, assisting with medication pickups, and supporting general hospital tasks such as billing and retail sales.
This role requires a balance of empathy and efficiency, often involving handling stressful situations and emergencies with calm and care. Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
- At least 1 year of reception experience in veterinary medicine
- Experience with Cornerstone practice management software
- Must be available to work some weekends
- May be open to part-time opportunities

Job Duties
- Provides excellent customer service in-person, over the phone, and during high-stress situations
- Manages lobby flow, addresses concerns, calms distressed owners, and schedules appointments
- Handles basic medical emergencies for pets and owners, ensuring safety and well-being
- Assists with medication pickups, inquiries, and provides information about services and products
- Inputs and manages data in practice management software, including billing and accounts
- Assists with retail sales, weighing pets, processing faxes, and maintaining records
- Reconciles cash drawer and performs end-of-day duties for accurate financial transactions
