BluePearl Pet Hospital is currently hiring Veterinary Receptionists, a vital role that serves as the first point of contact for clients and their pets as they enter the hospital. The Veterinary Receptionist at BluePearl plays an essential role in shaping client experiences and ensuring seamless communication between pet owners and veterinary teams. This position requires a calm, compassionate individual who can provide warm, professional support during what can often be stressful and emotional times for clients and their animals. Responsibilities include greeting clients with empathy, assessing patient conditions at arrival, managing appointment confirmations, and offering emotional support to grieving clients. The receptionist also acts as a key liaison connecting clients to the appropriate services within the hospital or external agencies when necessary. The role demands excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to handle emergencies and standard appointments with efficiency and sensitivity. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in veterinary or customer service preferred
  • Must possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assess emergency status of patients
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a veterinary or customer service role preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain calm and compassionate demeanor during emotional situations
  • Proficiency in telephone and in-person client interactions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Basic computer skills for scheduling and communication

Job Duties

  • Greet and make friendly eye contact every time the hospital entry door opens to offer warm and professional acknowledgement
  • Offer a friendly smile, strong eye contact, and an approachable demeanor
  • Act as a compassionate listener
  • Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone to ensure clients easily understand
  • Assess immediately upon arrival each client’s special needs and the pet’s general condition
  • Determine whether an emergency arrival is a "stat" versus "standard" emergency
  • Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member
  • Confirm all appointments in advance ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet
  • Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process
