Job Description
Dorset Street Animal Hospital is a newly established Urgent Care Veterinary practice located in South Burlington, Vermont. As a sister hospital to Onion River Animal Hospital in Berlin, Dorset Street Animal Hospital has expanded its services to offer walk-in urgent care, providing prompt and compassionate veterinary services for dogs and cats in the greater Burlington area. The hospital is dedicated to delivering high-quality medical care, supporting its staff with fair and livable wages, and fostering a welcoming and stress-free environment for both pets and their families. Dorset Street Animal Hospital is committed to building not only an excellent veterinary practice but also a community of passionate professionals who love what they do. It also prides itself on creating a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, aiming to be an empathetic and inclusive service provider within its community.
The role available is for a full-time Front-Desk Receptionist who will serve as the initial point of contact for veterinary clients. This position is vital in setting a positive tone for each visitor’s experience at the hospital. The Receptionist will engage directly with clients and their pets, facilitating appointment sign-ins, confirming appointment details, and escorting clients to exam rooms. The position demands strong customer service skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a genuine passion for animal care. The receptionist is tasked with managing service and product sales accounting, handling payments, scheduling future appointments, and managing inbound and outbound client communications.
Working hours for this full-time role include shifts across weekdays, weekends, and some evenings, as the hospital operates from 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week. Dorset Street Animal Hospital offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $19.00 to $25.00, reflective of the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) retirement plan, professional development opportunities, and a unique employee pet discount, recognizing that pets are part of the family. This position offers a rewarding career pathway for customer-oriented individuals who thrive in a vibrant, compassionate veterinary healthcare setting and want to contribute to a community-focused veterinary practice.
