Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in veterinary reception or customer service is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide compassionate support and maintain professionalism
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Capacity to work part-time hours, up to 20 hours weekly
  • Availability to work shifts including nights and weekends for shift differentials

Job Duties

  • Greet and acknowledge every client with friendly eye contact and warm welcome
  • Offer a friendly smile, maintain strong eye contact and approachable demeanor
  • Act as a compassionate listener for clients
  • Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone
  • Assess each client's needs and the pet's condition immediately upon arrival
  • Determine whether emergency situations are 'stat' or standard emergencies
  • Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and direct them to appropriate team members
  • Confirm all appointments in advance and provide preparation information to clients
  • Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients compassionately
  • Serve as liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains
  • Ensure a complete, accurate, and compassionate process in sensitive situations
