Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in customer service or veterinary reception preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work rotating weekends and flexible shifts

- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology including ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
- Excellent spelling and grammar
- Ability to handle varied and difficult emotional situations with tact and respect
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner under stress
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and enthusiasm for working in animal care
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of MVP
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff and deliver messages promptly
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and make confirmation calls
- Note details discussed during client conversations in medical records including date, time, and key points
- Enter accurate charges, explain invoices to clients, and echo doctors' recommendations during checkout
- Collect payment including cash, credit cards, and checks, ensuring proper ID where necessary
- Verify client charge account eligibility
- Update client information in medical and computer records and scan new documents to patient records
- Fill prescriptions refill forms and provide client instructions
- Advise clients on preventive care products such as flea/tick and heartworm preventatives
