Job Description
Village East Animal Hospital is a well-established veterinary practice located on Green River Road in Evansville, Indiana. For over 30 years, the hospital has provided exceptional veterinary care to the local community, balancing small-town charm with advanced medical technology. The facility currently houses state-of-the-art equipment such as laser therapy, digital radiography and dental X-ray, ultrasound, advanced anesthesia monitoring, an in-house IDEXX lab, dedicated surgery and dental suites, as well as spacious treatment, kennel, and bathing areas. The hospital prides itself on creating a compassionate and collaborative environment that benefits both pets and their owners. This commitment to excellence is underlined by the recognition of Dr. Kemp, who was voted Best DVM in Evansville, highlighting the practice's high standard of care and community reputation.
Excitingly, Village East Animal Hospital is undergoing an expansion and will be moving into a brand-new building in the spring of 2027. This progressive new facility features a single-level layout designed for seamless workflow, eliminating the challenges of stairs and split floors. It will include approximately 10 to 12 exam rooms, a significant increase from the current 5, allowing for increased client capacity and efficiency. The new hospital will have two surgery suites and a double dental suite, outfitted with the latest veterinary technology. An open floor plan for treatment areas will encourage better collaboration among the veterinary team, and there will be an indoor pet relief area and a comfort room opening to the outdoors to help calm and support patients during visits. The building will be equipped with a new practice information management system (PIMS) and updated equipment throughout, illustrating the hospital's commitment to providing the best possible care environment for animals and staff alike.
The Associate Veterinarian role at Village East provides an incredible opportunity to join a supportive, family-oriented team. The hospital typically operates with three doctors on shift daily, ensuring a close-knit team environment where collaboration and support are integral. The medical team is supported by licensed veterinary technicians at a 2:1 staff-to-DVM ratio, which helps maintain a manageable workload, allowing veterinarians to focus on quality patient care without being stretched thin. Under the mentorship of Dr. Durroh, a rehab-certified veterinarian who frequently performs TPLO surgeries, veterinarians have the chance to advance their surgical and rehabilitation skills. The practice emphasizes professional growth and offers a structured mentorship program, especially valuable for early-career veterinarians looking for guidance and skill development.
This full-time position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with one weekday off, establishing a true four-day workweek with no weekend or after-hours on-call shifts. The compensation package includes a competitive guaranteed base salary plus a monthly production bonus, along with attractive sign-on and relocation bonuses. Comprehensive benefits are offered, including health, dental, and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, a 401(k) plan with a generous company match, annual continuing education allowance, paid license fees and dues, employee discounts, leadership and career development opportunities, and generous paid time off. The hospital culture is deeply rooted in employee well-being, valuing each team member's input, and supporting their professional ambitions with training, equipment, and marketing support.
Living in Evansville, veterinarians will enjoy a blend of affordable living, strong schools, access to outdoor activities, vibrant arts, and food festivals. The city's location also offers convenient proximity to larger metropolitan areas such as Nashville, Louisville, St. Louis, and Indianapolis, perfect for weekend escapes. Village East Animal Hospital invites compassionate veterinarians ready to make a significant impact to apply and become part of a practice that feels like home while contributing to its exciting future.
