The role of Veteran Transport Specialist is a crucial position within this transportation company. The specialist will earn an hourly wage of $17.20 and play a pivotal role in ensuring that veterans receive safe, courteous, and dependable transportation services. Responsibilities include operating company-provided shuttle vehicles or sedans in accordance with strict safety and legal guidelines. This position requires attentiveness to passenger needs, including assisting riders with mobility challenges such as those using wheelchairs or scooters. The specialist is expected to carry out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain the highest level of vehicle safety and promptly address any maintenance or mechanical concerns.

Job Requirements

Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to store a company-designated passenger van at your residence
Willingness to work various shift hours and assigned days
Successful completion of pre-employment background check with MVR and drug screen
Ability to provide housing for a vehicle bearing the company logo at your residence
Ability to lift 75lbs from the floor
Capability to push or pull 80lbs horizontally and at an incline
Ability to exert up to 50lbs of force with hand dynamometer
Ability to climb steps
Ability to kneel and reach the floor
Prolonged periods of sitting in excess of 2 hours or more

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Previous experience in transportation or related field preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
Compassionate and patient attitude toward passengers
Basic proficiency in vehicle inspection and reporting
Ability to assist passengers with mobility aids

Job Duties

Operate a company-provided shuttle or sedan in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner
Safely transport clients who are disabled within the designated service area and according to the assigned time schedule
Perform pre and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition and report any mechanical or maintenance issues
Assist passengers, including those using wheelchairs or other mobility aids, in boarding and alighting from the vehicle
Properly secure wheelchairs and scooters to ensure passenger safety during transit
Maintain effective communication with dispatch to report deviations, accidents, passenger incidents, medical or behavioral concerns, or mechanical problems promptly
Complete accurate and timely written reports for passenger-related matters and accidents
Provide necessary guidance and inform passengers about rules and regulations to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience
Assist passengers with loading and stowing luggage, ensuring proper care and security of belongings during transit
