The PM Pastry Cook position at Verveine Café & Bakery is integral to maintaining the high standards of pastry and bakery production during the afternoon and evening shifts. This role involves hands-on preparation, ensuring all products meet strict quality, consistency, and presentation criteria. As a PM Pastry Cook, you will support the pastry team in various baking processes such as mixing doughs, scaling ingredients, shaping, lamination, baking, filling, and finishing pastries. The position demands a keen eye for detail, a commitment to cleanliness, and a passion for working in a team-oriented environment. You will execute recipes precisely under the guidance of the Sous Chef and Chef, ensuring pastries are ready for both service and the following day's production schedules.
Besides preparing pastries, this role requires managing pastry stations by setting up, maintaining, and breaking down stations throughout the shift. Completing prep lists and production tasks efficiently and with urgency is essential. You will be responsible for slicing, bagging, labeling, and packaging products for display and retail, ensuring proper storage and rotation of all bakery items. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace follows strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health department standards. The PM Pastry Cook also plays a role in supporting inventory practices, minimizing waste, and communicating any product shortages or quality issues to leadership.

Job Requirements
- 1+ year of bakery or kitchen experience preferred
- familiarity with baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment including lamination and gluten-free baking a plus
- positive, curious, and eager to learn
- strong attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency, quality, and sanitation standards
- organized and able to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- works well both independently and as part of a team
- strong communication and collaboration skills
- physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Support daily pastry and bakery production including mixing doughs, scaling ingredients, shaping, lamination, baking, filling, and finishing pastries
- execute recipes and techniques with consistency under the direction of the sous chef and chef
- assist with afternoon and evening bake as needed to support service and next-day readiness
- ensure all products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards
- set up, maintain, and break down pastry stations throughout the shift
