The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC), located in Birmingham, AL, is a premier venue that hosts a wide range of events including conventions, concerts, and large-scale catering functions. As part of Sodexo’s operations at this landmark venue, the Venue/Stadium Chef position is a dynamic and influential role designed for a culinary expert who can manage multiple units and oversee large-scale food production operations.
As a Venue/Stadium Chef at BJCC, you will have the opportunity to leverage your extensive culinary skills and operational expertise to support and enhance culinary standards across the complex. This role requires a seasoned culinary professional who excels in menu development, recipe creation, and high-volume production. You will provide operational support and training across a large geographic area, helping to strengthen the performance and consistency of the culinary team. Your responsibilities will include fostering food safety standards, managing inventories, overseeing plate costing, and implementing food management systems to drive efficiency and compliance.
You will be an essential contributor to system implementation, vendor compliance, recruitment efforts, and overall culinary excellence. As an individual contributor, you will focus on completing specialized technical tasks while collaborating with the wider team to improve the overall guest culinary experience. This position offers a blend of hands-on culinary leadership and strategic oversight, giving you broad impact and visibility within the organization.
The role comes with a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $120,000 annually and eligibility for Sodexo's incentive plan, which offers variable compensation on top of the base salary. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Five years of management experience
- Three years of relevant culinary experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel within the region
- Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
