Job Description
The organization managing multiple premier arts and performance venues in Dayton, including the Victoria Theatre, Benjamin & Marian Schuster Center for the Performing Arts, PNC Arts Annex, Arts Garage, and Metropolitan Arts Center, is dedicated to providing top-tier cultural experiences to the community. These venues host a wide range of events, from theatrical performances to concerts and community gatherings, making them central to Dayton's vibrant arts scene. Their commitment to excellence extends beyond performances, as they prioritize the maintenance and cleanliness of these venues to ensure every patron and customer has an exceptional experience. The organization values pride, responsibility, leadership, positivity, kindness, and reliability in their staff, reflecting the high standards they uphold for both the venues and their service.
The Venue Services Event Supervisor plays a critical role in this mission, overseeing housekeeping operations during events and daily activities across these esteemed facilities. This position is central to maintaining the visual appeal and operational readiness of each venue, directly impacting the patrons' experience and the venues' reputation. As an Event Supervisor, the individual is expected to lead with integrity and passion, managing a dedicated team to complete cleaning and setup tasks efficiently and thoroughly. The role requires hands-on supervision and participation, ensuring all areas—from restrooms and seating areas to outdoor spaces—are clean, stocked, and safe throughout event shifts, which often occur in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
This full-time role demands a proactive approach in managing housekeeping staff, training personnel, coordinating between shifts, and engaging with management to report issues and improve processes. The Supervisor must be proficient in various cleaning techniques, chemical usage, equipment operation, and linen management systems. They oversee tasks such as cleaning restrooms and showers, stock management, floor care, and seasonal deep cleaning including stripping and waxing floors. Additionally, maintaining the exterior cleanliness of the venues, including parking garages, sidewalks, and glass doors, is part of the responsibilities.
A key aspect of the role is safety compliance and effective communication, utilizing radios to coordinate tasks and respond promptly to any hazards or damage. Leadership skills are vital, as the Supervisor motivates the team to deliver high-quality work within tight timeframes, often balancing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with supervising staff in a housekeeping context, knowledge of cleaning supplies and methods, and the ability to work independently are essential. The role also requires a physical capacity to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds during long shifts.
Overall, the Venue Services Event Supervisor is not only a caretaker of cleanliness but a guardian of the guests' experience and the venues' prestige. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the cultural vitality of Dayton, supporting the arts community by ensuring that spaces are welcoming, safe, and pristine for every event and patron. Candidates passionate about leadership, quality service, and operational excellence will find this role rewarding and impactful.
