Job Description
The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation is a respected and historic community with roots tracing back many centuries as a tribe living harmoniously through farming, hunting, and fishing. Today, the Sycuan Tribe governs its reservation in the San Diego region and successfully manages various business ventures, including a cutting-edge casino and a premier golf resort. This unique blend of cultural heritage and modern entrepreneurship provides a vibrant community focused on growth and prosperity while maintaining a sense of unity and common purpose among its members and employees.
Working for the Sycuan Tribe means joining a family that values collaboration, respect, and dedication. Whether you contribute within the casino, resort, or tribal government sectors, your role is integral to the tribe’s collective success and its commitment to offering exceptional experiences for guests and community members alike.
The role of a Food Runner at Sycuan involves delivering food orders from the kitchen promptly and accurately to guests' tables. As the vital contact point bridging the kitchen (Back of the House) and front-facing staff (Front of the House), this position ensures that guests receive outstanding service and enjoy a seamless dining experience. The Food Runner is instrumental in supporting kitchen and service staff by maintaining cleanliness and stock levels in assigned areas, promoting a safe and sanitary environment, and actively contributing to team dynamics.
This hourly position demands an energetic, reliable, and customer-focused individual capable of managing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying trays, and enduring long hours on their feet. The ideal candidate will hold a County of San Diego Food Handler Card and be at least 18 years of age. While prior bussing, guest service, and hospitality experience are desirable, the candidate's attitude, communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively within a team are equally important.
Joining Sycuan as a Food Runner offers the chance to be part of a thriving community-oriented organization that prioritizes guest satisfaction and employee development. The work environment is dynamic, with schedules that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the hospitality industry's nature. If you are motivated, professional, and committed to excellence, this role presents a meaningful opportunity to contribute to one of San Diego's most respected tribal enterprises.
