The Venue Event and Production Supervisor role at Utah Valley University is a part-time position designed for individuals passionate about live event production and coordination. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technical theater or equivalent
- minimum four years experience in venue or event production supervision
- certification in crowd management, first aid, CPR, AED
- knowledge of labor agreements and labor law
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software
- strong communication and organizational skills
- ability to operate technical theater equipment
- ability to read and interpret industry-specific documentation
- ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in technical theater or related field
- four years of experience in theatrical venue supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience
- knowledge of all aspects of performing arts and technical production
- familiarity with labor agreements, labor law, contracts, and payroll
- certification in crowd management, first aid, CPR, and safety practices
- proficiency with office software including Microsoft Office and production management tools
- excellent communication, time management, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
- ability to operate technical theater equipment such as Genie lifts, chain motors, and rigging systems
- ability to read and interpret schedules, contracts, technical riders, and drawings
- ability to manage priorities under pressure and work independently
- ability to foster teamwork and maintain professional relationships across organizational levels
Job Duties
- Initiates the planning of meetings and attends load-in, setup, rehearsals, performances, and strike/restore as UVU representative
- creates and manages production schedules for assigned events
- coordinates technical needs including lighting, audio, video, scenic, props, costumes, box office, and marketing
- serves as point-person for event vendors and university collaborators such as UVU Police and Fire Departments
- ensures safe, professional, and efficient execution of events
- schedules venues and reserves production equipment
- assists in scheduling crew for events
- reviews and tracks production and event budgets
- maintains professional production procedures, checklists, estimates, settlements, and reports
- develops standard operating procedures and guideline documentation
- aids in training SOA and other staff
- performs other job-related duties as assigned
