The Peoria Parks and Recreation Department plays a vital role in supporting the community by offering recreational programs and activities that enhance the health, wellness, and social connections of residents across all age groups. With a strong emphasis on inclusivity and community engagement, the department manages various facilities and organizes events that contribute to the city's dynamic lifestyle.
Within this forward-thinking and community-centered environment, the City of Peoria Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated and creative Venue Coordinator to join the team at the Rio Vista Recreation Center. This facility serves as an energetic community hub, offering a wide range of recreational programs and activities aimed at fostering an active and healthy lifestyle for residents of all ages. The Venue Coordinator will be integral in supporting daily operations, enhancing program delivery, and elevating community involvement at the recreation center.
As the Venue Coordinator, you will take on a leadership role by supervising the day-to-day operations of the Rio Vista Recreation Center. This includes planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of recreational programs and events that meet the diverse needs of the community. You will work collaboratively with the Recreation Supervisor and other team members to ensure the facility runs smoothly and efficiently. A key responsibility will be supervising and training part-time staff, including instructors who lead fitness and recreational activities at the center. This role is also involved in broader departmental functions such as supporting marketing campaigns, organizing community events, and contributing to special operations like Spring Training.
This position requires someone with strong facility management skills and the ability to address challenges proactively to maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for both staff and patrons. Effective conflict resolution and operational oversight are essential components of this role. The ideal candidate will bring progressive supervisory experience managing full-time, part-time staff, instructors, and volunteers, combined with flexibility to work a seasonal, year-round schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
Additional qualifications that will support success in this role include marketing experience to help promote programs and events, a background in municipal or government settings, and prior event management expertise. The position offers an exciting opportunity to be an influential part of a community-focused organization celebrated for its quality services and outstanding work culture.
Salary for this position ranges from a minimum of $72,157.95 to a maximum of $106,793.73, with a mid-range target salary of $89,475.84, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the role within the Parks and Recreation Department.
