The Porter position at Penske Vehicle Services is a full-time role based in Auburn Hills, MI, operating from 6am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday. This role is essential in supporting Mechanical, Paint, Quality, and Company Vehicle Operations through a variety of critical functions. As a Porter, the individual will be responsible for moving vehicles on public roads between company locations and organizing vehicles efficiently in parking lots according to specific lot numbering systems. The role also includes maintaining company vehicles by fueling, vacuuming, and cleaning or washing them to ensure they are in optimal condition.

The Porter will perform physical inspections of used vehicles and receive new vehicles with careful checks for damage and cleanliness. This role is pivotal in assisting with the vehicle exchange process when vehicles are dropped off or picked up, reconciling vehicle shippers and recording VIN numbers to match the inventory system accurately. Additionally, the Porter is expected to shuttle technical personnel between work locations, handle filing of vehicle paperwork, and complete various office tasks as required. Maintaining adherence to all company policies related to safe driving is crucial for this position. Besides the primary duties, the Porter may be assigned other responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.

Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • excellent driving record with less than 4 points on driving record
  • able to drive a manual transmission (preferred but not required)
  • strong organizational skills
  • excellent customer service skills
  • capable written and oral communication
  • ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • lifting requirements 5 - 25lbs
  • moderate to high level of physical activity

Job Duties

  • Parking lot organization of vehicles in accordance with lot numbering
  • responsible for moving company vehicles to appropriate location
  • responsible for fueling, vacuuming and cleaning/washing company vehicles
  • perform physical inspections of used vehicles
  • receive new vehicles - inspection for damage, cleanliness, etc.
