Job Description
The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, with ancestors who lived as a close-knit community relying on farming, hunting, and fishing, has evolved significantly over the centuries. Today, the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation and owns various business ventures in the San Diego Region, including a state-of-the-art Casino and a renowned Golf Resort. As a prominent Native American tribe, Sycuan blends its rich cultural heritage with modern enterprises to create a thriving community and business environment. This unique combination offers team members an opportunity to be part of a legacy while working for an organization that values community, respect, and excellence.
Joining Sycuan means becoming a member of a family-oriented workplace that places a high priority on collaboration and delivering exceptional service to guests. The Tribe’s operations are not solely focused on business growth but also on fostering a supportive and inclusive community where employees thrive. Whether you work in gaming, hospitality, or the Tribal Government, you will find an environment committed to personal and professional growth.
The Vault Cashier role at Sycuan is a critical position within the Casino’s operations. This hourly position is essential for maintaining accuracy and security in financial transactions related to the Vault and Cash Cage. The Vault Cashier is responsible for performing and reconciling transactions with rigorous adherence to financial controls and regulatory compliance standards. This role demands attention to detail, exceptional numeracy skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality guest service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Vault Cashiers play a vital role in supporting internal bank transactions, processing tips and jackpots, and managing cash cage balancing activities. The position also entails preparing bank deposits, verifying funds during armored transport, and processing checks and vouchers. Providing both internal and external guest service is central to the role, requiring clear communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience handling high-volume cash transactions and strong guest service skills. Familiarity with banking or casino cage cashier experience is a plus. Additionally, Vault Cashiers must be proficient in basic mathematical calculations, recognize counterfeit currency and chips, and maintain professionalism under pressure. The role also demands proficiency with computer systems, including MS Word and Excel, and the ability to perform 10-key operations by touch.
This opportunity is well-suited for individuals seeking stable, hourly employment within a respected tribal enterprise where teamwork, integrity, and accuracy are paramount. Sycuan offers a rewarding work environment that encourages learning and a career path within the gaming industry or allied sectors. If you are detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy engaging with guests and teammates, a position as a Vault Cashier with Sycuan could be your next authentic career move.
