This credo embraces the youthful spirit of freedom, non-conformity, and relentless progression. The company prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive culture based on respect, connection, and authenticity. Known for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Vans creates an environment where diverse perspectives and voices are celebrated and embraced.
The role of Director, Business Operations & Strategy at Vans is a pivotal position reporting directly to the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. This role acts as a key driver behind the daily operations of the business, playing a critical role in strengthening operational rigor and optimizing business functions across the organization. As a strategic right hand to a senior executive, the Director partners with leaders across multiple functions and regions, including brand, product, merchandising, direct-to-consumer, wholesale, finance, and operations teams.
This highly visible leadership position operates within a complex and ambiguous environment, requiring frequent collaboration with senior executives. The Director's responsibilities include improving processes, building durable operational frameworks, and spearheading cross-functional execution aligned with clear priorities, key performance indicators (KPIs), and long-term financial and operational goals. Key aspects of the role involve partnering with the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer to shape and evolve Vans’ long-term growth strategy and managing the 5-Year Long Range Plan including financial modeling and interdepartmental coordination.
Furthermore, the Director is involved in preparing high-level materials for the Board of Directors and executive leadership team presentations. Acting as the connective tissue between various organizational functions, the Director ensures clarity, accountability, and follow-through on strategic initiatives. They lead and support high-priority cross-functional projects that drive revenue growth, margin improvement, cost discipline, and enhance organizational effectiveness.
Managing complex projects from problem definition through execution, the Director serves as a trusted thought partner for functional leaders by synthesizing inputs and shaping strategic recommendations. They are responsible for designing and implementing frameworks and governance models that enable faster decision-making and stronger alignment across business units. Additionally, the role entails conducting detailed market, channel, category, and competitive analyses to inform strategic decision-making and investment prioritization.
The Director also manages global dashboards and reporting to VF Corporation, including quarterly business reviews and ad hoc executive requests. This role demands exceptional skills in strategic thinking, operational execution, financial acumen, and communication to navigate the dynamic retail and consumer brand landscape.
Vans offers a competitive salary range of $159,840 to $199,800 annually for this position, along with eligibility for additional incentive compensation such as annual incentives, sales incentives, or commission potential. Vans is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of its employees through extensive training opportunities and a strong benefits package.
The company’s benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans, supported by an inclusive culture that embraces diversity and equity as fundamental principles. Vans encourages prospective candidates to join a vibrant team passionate about creativity, progression, and shaping the future of skate culture and beyond.
