The role of Parking Attendant at OhioHealth is a vital position that contributes significantly to the overall patient and visitor experience. This role serves as the first and last point of contact for patients, visitors, and associates, making it essential for creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere. Parking Attendants are trained in both shuttle driving and valet services, ensuring that all individuals arriving at the facility are safely and efficiently guided to their destinations. The responsibilities encompass a variety of tasks such as greeting customers, assisting with mobility needs, maintaining vehicle safety, and keeping parking areas clean and orderly. Job Requirements
- No degree or diploma required
- Valid driver’s license from Department of Motor Vehicles
- Driving record with 4 points or less
- Ability to drive automatic and standard transmission vehicles
- Availability to work day shifts
- Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency as per High Reliability Organization standards
- Physical ability to assist customers as necessary including mobility support
- Willingness to cover various parking functions when needed
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to complete required documentation and reporting on vehicle and shuttle operations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Two years of customer service experience
- Valid state driver’s license
- Ability to drive standard transmission vehicle preferred
- Competency in basic driving safety and vehicle operation training completed within 90 days
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Job Duties
- Greet all customers boarding the shuttle, provide friendly, professional service
- Safely drive customers to their destination, keeping in mind their comfort and all applicable traffic laws
- Complete all documentation, log sheets, vehicle check list, accident reporting, mileage tracking, defect tracking
- Report all maintenance concerns and any damage or accident before the end of the shift
- Use appropriate techniques to assist customers with mobility issues including wheelchair lift and tie-downs
- Keep shuttles clean and follow all driver expectations
- Cover as needed in other parking functions including office, shuttle, booth or maintenance
- Greet customers proactively in valet attendant and assist them in finding their destinations
- Safely park customers' vehicles after inspecting for pre-existing damages and record all relevant information
- Track all vehicles using valet lot sheet and claim tickets
- Keep valet entry areas clean and clear of parked vehicles
- Monitor valet areas for smokers and enforce hospital property smoking policies
- Record and track all financial transactions related to valet services
- Fulfill duties as valet greeter including proactive customer assistance and maintaining entry areas
