The role of Parking Attendant at OhioHealth is vital in ensuring a positive first and last impression for customers including associates, visitors, and patients. This position primarily involves responsibilities in shuttle and valet services, providing safe and courteous transportation as well as vehicle parking and retrieval services. The parking attendant functions as a key guide, helping people navigate the parking facilities while maintaining cleanliness, order, and safety standards. The attendant will receive thorough training to perform shuttle driving, valet parking, and greeting duties with professionalism and care. The job requires interaction with diverse customers and the ability to assist those with mobility challenges using special equipment such as wheelchair lifts. The position demands strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and adherence to vehicle safety regulations.

Working as a parking attendant requires managing vehicle checklists, completing proper documentation, tracking mileage and maintenance needs, and reporting incidents promptly. Valet attendants will monitor and maintain valet entry areas, ensure smooth vehicle flow and accurate record keeping for vehicles and financial transactions. The role also involves flexibility, as attendants may be asked to cover other parking functions such as office duties, booth support, or maintenance work. The position operates on a night shift basis with a weekly schedule of 40 hours. The work environment is dynamic and places patient safety and service excellence at the forefront.

Candidates for this role must hold a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record (4 points or fewer), have two years of customer service experience, and demonstrate competency in driving both automatic and standard transmission vehicles. OhioHealth provides comprehensive training to ensure proficiency in safe driving practices. A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory. Job Duties

  • Greet all customers boarding the shuttle, provide friendly, professional service
  • safely drive customers to their destination, keeping in mind their comfort and all applicable traffic laws
  • complete all documentation, log sheets, vehicle check list, accident reporting, mileage tracking, defect tracking etc.
  • report all maintenance concerns
  • report any damage or accident before the end of your shift
  • use appropriate techniques to assist customers with mobility issues (wheel chair lift and tie-downs)
  • keep shuttles clean
  • follow all driver expectations (2 minute wait, shuttle bus stops, etc.)
  • cover as needed in other Parking functions office, shuttle, booth or maintenance
  • greet the customer
  • proactively approach the customer to discover what assistance they need
  • assist customer in finding their way to their desired location
  • assist the customer out of their vehicle if necessary (may require lift)
  • safely park customers’ vehicle in the appropriate parking location after pre-checking vehicle for damages
  • record any pre-existing damages
  • safely return vehicles to owners when appropriate
  • track all vehicles with valet lot sheet and valet claim tickets, include all information in both documents
  • keep entry areas clear of parked vehicles
  • keep the valet entry areas clean
  • monitor valet areas for smokers, ask all smoking visitors to move to another location off of hospital property
  • record and track all financial transactions, including receiving vouchers or payment for valet services as well as refunding customers for PIL payments
  • cover as needed in other Parking functions office, shuttle, booth or maintenance
  • keep entry areas clear of parked vehicles
  • keep the valet entry areas clean
  • monitor valet areas for smokers, ask all smoking visitors to move to another location off of hospital property
