The Valet Driver position at Surety Hotel in Des Moines offers an exciting opportunity to be part of this impactful hospitality team. Starting pay ranges between $18 and $20 per hour, inclusive of cash tips received daily. Both full-time and part-time employees have access to benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance. While the preferred shift is morning, the work schedule is flexible, covering weekdays, weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
As a Valet Driver, you will be the first and last impression guests have of the hotel, providing attentive and courteous service that enhances their overall experience. Responsibilities include promptly and safely parking and retrieving guests’ vehicles, assisting with luggage, and welcoming each guest with a professional demeanor. The role demands strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. In addition to vehicle care, the Valet Driver assists with directions, assists with guest inquiries, and ensures clear communication about parking rates and retrieval procedures.
This position is fairly routine but requires adherence to operational guidelines to maintain seamless service. You will operate in a physically active environment, much of the work being outdoors and possibly involving exposure to varying weather conditions. Physical demands may involve lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds and performing tasks such as walking, running, crouching, and climbing stairs. The ideal candidate holds a valid driver's license, has basic math and communication skills, and possesses the ability to efficiently manage guest interactions.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must hold a valid driver’s license for the state of employment or within commutable distance
- One month related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and write standard English language
- Ability to comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to perform basic math operations with American money
- Ability to understand 24-hour and military time systems
- Ability to operate a manual transmission is highly desirable
- Ability to perform parallel parking
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintain pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with guests, greet guests within five feet using a professional and friendly manner, address guests by last names
- Use salutation of the day and welcome guests, practice proper phone etiquette, post up in designated areas when not completing tasks
- Park and retrieve vehicles slowly and cautiously, assist guests with bell services and luggage storage, open vehicle and hotel doors for guests
- Assist guests with directions, taxis, reservations, and inquiries, provide information about nearby outlets, meeting rooms, and amenities, deliver messages and guest amenities, shuttle guests as approved
- Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests, issue claim checks only after receiving vehicle keys, collect claim checks before issuing keys, complete and maintain ticket information, calculate and collect parking revenue when necessary
