Positioned in the heart of the hospitality sector, the Valet Driver role at Towne Park in Hotel Cleveland is crucial for delivering outstanding guest service. Valet Drivers are responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing the safe and efficient parking of vehicles, assisting with luggage handling, and providing helpful information about the hotel amenities and local attractions. Although no prior experience is necessary, this role requires individuals who are enthusiastic about hospitality and customer service. The position offers competitive pay starting between $9.30 and $13.00 per hour plus tips ranging from $9 to $11 per hour. The work schedule is flexible, with shifts available during weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and some shifts offer bonus pay.

The Valet Driver functions in a dynamic environment that involves both indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to varying weather. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally and handle extended periods of standing or walking. Drivers must exhibit safe driving practices and be capable of operating vehicles with manual transmission when required. This role also emphasizes clear communication and the ability to interact positively with guests, enhancing their overall experience.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Able to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must have basic math and communication skills
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission (preferred)
  • Available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • One month related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of customer and personal service principles and processes
  • Ability to read and write standard English language
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information to guests, clients and other employees
  • Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Ability to perform operations using units of American money
  • Ability to understand 24 hour and military time systems
  • Ability to understand rates applicable to time passed
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform parallel parking

Job Duties

  • Maintain pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, co-workers, and clients
  • Acknowledge and greet guests within five feet with a professional and friendly demeanor
  • Use guest last names during interactions
  • Use salutation of the day and welcome guests to the location
  • Practice proper Towne Park phone etiquette
  • Park and retrieve vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously
  • Assist guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed
  • Open all vehicle and hotel doors for guests
  • Assist guests with directions, taxis, reservations and other inquiries
  • Provide guests with information about outlets, meeting rooms and/or amenities of the facility as well as main attractions in the area
  • Deliver messages, items and/or guest amenities as requested
  • Shuttle guests to appropriate places approved by the location
  • Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival
  • Issue claim checks only after receiving vehicle keys and collect claim checks from all guests prior to issuing keys
  • Consistently complete and maintain all ticket information including key tag, guest folio, location of vehicle, damage survey and claim check receipt from all vehicles taken into the valet system
  • Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when needed
